ZAO «Russkaya Kozha» is the largest tannery in Russia

It is located in the city of Ryazan (180 km southeast of Moscow) and was first established in 1916. The new tannery was build by Concerie COGOLO SPA (Italy) under turnkey contract in 1988. Total area of the tannery facilities is 480 000 square meters. 1900 people are working in ZAO «Russkaya kozha». Our manufacture is certificated under standard ISO 9001:2008.

At the present moment we are one of the largest leather suppliers in Europe producing over 35 % of all Russian finished leather, crust , wet-white and wet-blue hides. Manufacture of footwear and furniture leathers is the main directions of the tannery. Garment and upholstery are also produced at the tannery. Very soon the production of automobile leathers will be started. Every month we sell more than 850 000 square meters of grain leathers and 500 000 square meters of split leathers.

We are currently exporting 48% of our production to more then 100 customers from Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Finland, Turkey, China, Vietnam, India, and Pakistan. The tannery has a network of representative offices in Russia, CIS countries, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Poland.

Raw hide & semi – finished leathers

The tannery is the biggest player on Russian rawhide market. We process more than 35 % of all Russian hides collecting them through our collective points network consisting of 21 offices located all over Russia. Every year we purchase more than 3 000 000 hides soaking 6 000 of them daily.

Our tannery offers different kinds of semi – finished products: wet-blue, wet-white & crust.
Each production stage is carefully controlled in our laboratory.

Leathers for footwear, garment

We know that quality of leather makes big difference for our customers. Our leathers are developed in accordance with the latest trends. Tannery has obtained LGR certificate (EU ecological requirements), is a member of SATRA Technology Centre.
Twice a year we prepare new leather collections for spring/summer & fall/winter. Each collection consists of leathers with different type of finishes: aniline, semi-aniline, milled, printed, buffed, velour splits etc.

Scotchgard technology was adopted to produce waterproof leathers.
We produce leather not only for footwear, but for garment and leathergoods as well.

Automotive and upholstery leather

In the beginning of year 2005 the final steps for implementing new line for automotive and upholstery leathers were made. Investments into the project have made more than 3 million euro. To the middle of 2005 the sales volume of furniture leather and semi-finished items has made 210 000 m2 in a month.

Upholstery leathers are produced in 30 different colors and with different type of printing – Madras, Uruguay, Dollar.

We have certificated the leather in tanning institute BLC Leather Technology Centre Limited (Great Britain) under standard IKEA which is the most exacting to quality of production. Testing the upholstery leathers in Academies TFL (Italy) is in addition lead.

We are currently developing our automotive program. Automotive leather requirements are very strict and we are currently developing the QC system for this type of production. Lately we have received official TFL certificate confirming that our automotive leathers fit the standard requirements of the Industry.

Equipmpent & machinery

At the present moment at our tannery we have implemented more than 800 pieces of world best machinery: Bergi, Cartigliano, Emmezetta, Gemata, Gozzini, Mosconi, Mostardini, Poletto etc. The tannery is 90% automated.

We develop new types of leathers and process our production in close contact with leading chemical companies: BASF, BAYER, CLARIANT, PIEL COLOR, SARHEM, STAHL, TFL, ZSCHIMMER & SHWARZ.

Our technologists work hard to improve the quality of products. Special development area is dedicated to create new leathers upon customer request. We are particularly proud of the fact that we are one of the first businesses in Russia to develop selection criteria meeting world standards.

We pay a lot of attention to testing our leathers: tannery has its own dyeing laboratory, equipped with spectrophotometer and light imitation camera.

Special Research and Development department creates new types of leathers, improve existing technologies & produce small tailor-made lots for our customers.
